My health and why I consume a low-carbohydrate diet

I’d want to tell you a bit more about myself and my health, as well as why I’ve chosen a low-carb lifestyle for the rest of my life. I became sick a few years back and had to go to the hospital with gastroenteritis. I was able to return home after one week of treatment, but I was still sick. I had the gastrointestinal flu in addition to the agony from the gastroenteritis, and after another couple of days, I went to see my family doctor since I knew something wasn’t right. He gave me medication and double-checked everything the hospital indicated, but he couldn’t figure out why I was still sick. I told him the truth: whenever I ate something, I had to go to the bathroom within 5 to 10 minutes.

Before phoning me back two days later, he advised more testing and performed a blood analysis. He said that something was amiss because the results were unlike anything he had ever seen before and that if the results were accurate, I would be allergic to 95% of all foods. He invited me back to his office for a new blood test, and the results arrived days later — with the same results. My body reacted with allergies when the hospital mistreated me; such horrible news affected my life.

I was 21 years old, had dropped about 10 kg in three weeks, gained 25 kilograms in four weeks, and was in virtually constant discomfort. The years after that were more or less the same, with me gaining and losing weight, using daily painkillers, and only having 4-5 foods that I could consume without any problems. I didn’t like it and wanted to change it. I attempted to study as much as possible about health, nutrition, and alternative eating methods. When I relocated to California, I decided to try eating a low-carb diet in order to reduce weight, and I felt much better right away. When I googled the advantages of a low-carb diet, I came across an Instagram account dedicated to the keto diet.

The health benefits of a life free of carbs and sugar appeared to be enormous, so I decided to give it a go for the first four weeks. After years of using a total of ten medicines every day, I was fully pain-free after only two weeks… there was no reason for me to return. I’m still doing keto / low carb and loving it (I have a cheat meal every now and then)
